Inserting and managing Adsense in Wordpress is easier than in Blogger

aspiring blogger

,

There is no denial to the fact that Wordpress is far more sophisticated, advanced and customizable than Blogger. Blogger and Wordpress both come for free but to use Wordpress, you need to spend money in buying domain and hosting. The all-free feature of Blogger makes it a holy grail though. You can have free blogs elsewhere too, like on Wordpress.com, Xanga etc. but they are less customizable than Blogger. Due to lack of plugin support and other customization options in Blogger, inserting Adsense in Blogger is a tad difficult than in Wordpress.

The lack of plugin support makes it very difficult to do things in Blogger which would otherwise be an easy task with Wordpress. Wordpress and the people contributing to its open source movement are involved in creating great plugins for optimizing a wordpress blog. From SEO to social bookmarking and monetizing, every task can be accomplished with ease in Wordpress. If you want to add adsense to your Wordpress blogs, you can choose from dozens of Adsense plugin for Wordpress. But for blogger, there is no such choice.

I use Adsense Deluxe Plugin for my Wordpress blog Tech Attitude. There are Wordpress plugins available for noobs to advanced users. I tried about 5 or 6 of other plugins and finally ended up with Adsense Deluxe. I think this is by far the best Adsense Plugin for Wordpress as it lets you insert ad anywhere inside a post by just inserting the ad name. And if inserted via the template, the ads can be selectively turned on or off. It provides a wide range of control. There are some other plugins that will automatically insert Adsense in blog posts and you’ll just need to provide your Adsense ID.

To insert Adsense in Blogger, you will need to add the full code in the template wherever you want it to appear as there is no plugin support in Blogger. You should need to be familiar with the codes that show the post body, comments, blog title etc. and then inject adsense codes appropriately within them. Adsense can be inserted in Blogger via the Adsense widget too. The Adsense Widget makes it easy for you to insert the Ads in your blog, in the sidebar and other places as well. But what if you want an Ad unit just beneath the post title? Inserting Adsense this way would be easy with Wordpress plugins but difficult in blogger. If you add Adsense via Adsense widget, your ad will sit itself above the post title. For placing it beneath the title, you need to manipulate the code, there’s no other choice.

The Blogger template is an XML file. If your Adsense code is inserted directly by just copy-pasting, it won’t show up in your blogger blog. You’ll need to parse the Adsense javascript snippet to XML friendly version. You can parse it online here. Even if you think of inserting Adsense through an HTML/Javascript widget, you’ll need to parse it.

Some Wordpress plugins like All in One Adsense and YPN allow you to insert Adsense just by providing your Adsense Pub ID. They will also let you set color schemes for you ad within the Wordpress Interface and you won’t need to open your adsense account for getting your code. But in case of blogger, you will be compelled to login to adsense and copy the full code.

So, inserting Adsense in Wordpress is easier than in Blogger but the end results are the same in both platforms. So, workaround a little to insert Adsense in Blogger the perfect way. It will surely be the worth.
